A small Japanese company provides its employees with paid compensatory leaves for care of a broken heart.

Women below 25 years old have a right to take one idle day per year. Female employees between 26-29 years old can count on two idle days, and the ones above 30 years old can take three idle days.

“It’s like to become sick,” –company director Miki said in an interview. She told that young women could find new love easier, so only one day was given to them, but parting with a man was a more serious trauma for elder women, so they were given more time.

The company used to allow its female employees to come to work in the afternoon twice a year during sales, so they could spend their morning on shopping. Miki explained that many female employees did it, but they had to think up reasonable excuses in other companies and hide packages with purchases in cloak-rooms at railway stations before going to work.

Company staff includes eight women. The company sells cosmetics and other female-oriented goods.
